Rotary Reschedules Distinguished Service Awards

Eleven area residents will be honored for their service to the township by the Rotary Club of Parsippany-Troy Hills.  The 49th Annual Distinguished Service awards dinner will take place at the Knoll West County Club. The original date of Saturday, February 9 was postponed.  The new date will be Saturday, March 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Knoll West Country Club.   For information or tickets or to change tickets please contact Peggy Mader at [email protected] or call (973) 538-6666.

This year’s Outstanding Citizen award will be presented to Councilman Michael J. dePierro, for his many years of service to the Township. Michael is also a member of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Planning Board.

Others receiving tribute are the year’s outstanding high school students Jessica Chimoff from Parsippany Hills High School; Nicolas Limanov from Parsippany High School and Danielle Rose Masterson from Parsippany High School.

Outstanding Educators being honored are Nancy Dwyer from Lake Parsippany School and Thomas Nolan from Lake Hiawatha School. Outstanding Law Enforcement – Robert Lenahan, School Resource Officer at both High Schools and Outstanding Public Safety – David Cavaliere, former Chief of Fire District #5.

The Annual Dean Gallo Memorial Vocational Award will be given to Greg Schneider, Director of Parsippany Public Works and Maria Cataldo, Lake Parsippany School.

The Rotary Club is a worldwide organization of businessmen and women dedicated to peace through humanitarian efforts and programs. Although most of the honorees are not Rotarians, the club says they demonstrate the epitome Rotary’s Motto:  “Service above Self.”

The Rotary Club of Parsippany-Troy Hills meets every Wednesday at 12:15 p.m, at Il Villaggio Restaurant, 22 Gibraltar Drive, Morris Plains. New members are always welcome to join.
