Money Magazine just announced its list of America’s Best Small Cities. Parsippany-Troy Hills ranked #15 in the Nation and #1 in New Jersey, edging out Franklin, Hamilton and Wayne. Parsippany was selected because of, among other things, its home to offices of more than 30 Fortune 500 companies, recreation programs, low crime rate and holiday celebrations – and is a short drive from New York city. Diversity was also a key, noting that Parsippany is 29 percent Asian and 8 percent Hispanic.
Mayor Barberio, a lifelong resident, commented that “I have never been more proud to be Mayor of a great town.” Between Par-Troy East representing the Mid-Atlantic States in the Little League World Series and the Money Magazine designation, all of our residents and businesses in Parsippany should rejoice and feel the “Pride in Parsippany.”
Mayor Barberio played a key role in the Money Magazine’s selection of Parsippany. This June, the Mayor received a telephone call from Money Magazine reporter Beth Braverman. The Mayor spent several hours with Ms. Braverman, taking her on a guided tour of Parsippany. Mayor Barberio showed Ms. Braverman neighborhoods, local businesses, corporate parks, and many municipal facilities. The Mayor described how the community came together after Hurricane Irene to support the flood victims. Mayor Barberio stated “part of my job as mayor is to showcase our great community – and its part of the job I love to do. We have much to be proud of and much to be thankful for,” said the Mayor.
