Arrested for Obstruction of Justice
While on patrol in the parking lot of Cinema 12 on Wednesday, January 18, Officer Jason Ferreira observed Mr. Shawn Sperling, 21, Parsippany sitting in the back seat of a parked vehicle. Mr. Sperling was wanted by police after a he took a vehicle belonging to a member of his family on Tuesday, January 12 without the owner’s consent and had not yet returned. Officer Ferreira exited his patrol vehicle and ordered Mr. Sperling out of the car. Mr. Sperling adamantly refused to exit the vehicle before he was pulled out by the officer and placed under arrest. Mr. Sperling was transported to Parsippany Police Headquarters where he was processed before being turned over to the custody of the Morris County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 bail. The vehicle that he had taken without consent was found several blocks away. He was charged with Obstruction of the Administration of Law and Unlawful Taking of a Means of Conveyance.
Warrant Arrest
While on patrol at 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, Officers Michael Sprung and Ronald Carrozzino observed a white Mercedes parked behind the Green Hill Shopping Center located on Parsippany Road. The vehicle was unoccupied, but idling near the rear door of a closed business. The officers exited their patrol vehicle to investigate further. As they were investigating the vehicle, Mr. Daryl Rinaldi, 21, Parsippany exited from the rear door of one of the businesses. Officer Sprung recognized Mr. Rinaldi and was aware that he had active warrants issued for his arrest. He was placed under arrest once an outstanding warrant issued by the Township of Wayne Municipal Court was verified. He was transported to Parsippany Police Headquarters where he was processed. He was released after posting $474.00 bail.
Arrest Made For Possession of Marijuana
Mr. Faraz Haghighatjou, 27, Lake Hiawatha was arrested on Tuesday, January 17 at 3:02 a.m. subsequent to a motor vehicle stop initiated by Officers Ronald Carrozzino and Michael Sprung while they were on patrol on North Beverwyck Road. The vehicle that Mr. Haghighatjou was traveling in was driving North on North Beverwyck Road with all of its lights off. After a brief investigation, Mr. Haghighatjou was found to be in Possession of Marijuana (Under 50g.). He was arrested and transported to Parsippany Police Headquarters where he was processed before being released pending a court appearance.
Vehicles Broken In at Local Hotels
Officers responded to three hotels on the morning of January 20 near the Route 46 corridor to investigate reports of burglaries to vehicles parked in their lots. Three vehicles parked in the lot of the Embassy Suites located on Parsippany Boulevard had damaged door locks. Entry was gained into one of the vehicles and approximately two dollars in change was reported stolen. The glove compartment was also rummaged through. One vehicle in the Courtyard Marriot had the driver’s door lock damaged and one vehicle parked in the lot at the Days Inn on Route 46 also had a driver’s side door lock damaged in an attempt to gain entry. Four out of the five vehicles involved were Nissan / Infiniti products. Two Burglaries to Apartments under Investigation
Officers responded to the Baldwin Manor Apartments and the Dartmouth Village Apartments located on Baldwin Road to investigate reports of burglaries to residences. The first call was received by the Parsippany Police Department Communications Center at 9:50 p.m. on Friday, January 20. A resident of Baldwin Manor arrived home after being out for two hours to find that the rear door of the apartment that leads out to the balcony had been forced open and someone had entered the residence. Nothing of value was reported stolen at the time that the report was taken. The second call was received by the Parsippany Police Department Communications Center at 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, January 21. A resident of Dartmouth Village arrived home after being out for approx. seven hours to find the contents of the apartment to be in disarray. Nothing of value was reported stolen at the time that the report was taken. The point of entry in this case appeared to be a back window in the apartment.
