MORRIS COUNTY — The Morris County Freeholders have proclaimed April 2017 as Fair Housing Month in Morris County, marking the 49th anniversary of the federal Fair Housing Act, a federal law that mandates equal housing opportunities for all residents.

“The concept of Fair Housing Month is to increase public awareness of the fact that all Americans have a right to fair housing opportunities, and that some residents – even here in Morris County – do not have adequate housing for themselves and their families,’’ said Freeholder Director Doug Cabana.

The proclamation was issued at Wednesday, April 12 freeholder work session in Morristown to Morris County Community Development Director Tim Tansey and Charles Lamb, who is past president of the Morris County Human Relations Commission.
