PARSIPPANY — The 26th Annual Delta Dental of New Jersey (DDNJ) Golf Classic raised nearly $50,000 for Special Olympics New Jersey (SONJ), a nonprofit organization that provides sports training and athletic competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This annual event has raised a total of more than $1 million for SONJ since 1990.
The Golf Classic was held at Ballyowen Golf Club in Hamburg on May 20. Among the golfers in the tournament were three SONJ athletes, two SONJ coaches, and SONJ Board Member Tom Varga.
“Special Olympics of New Jersey is an exceptional organization with whom Delta Dental of New Jersey has enjoyed a decades-long relationship, making the Golf Classic not only a significant fundraising event but a truly bright spot each year,” said Dennis Wilson, president and CEO, DDNJ. “It is a privilege to play a role in enabling thousands of talented Special Olympians to participate in the individual and team sports they love.”
“We value the tremendous commitment and enthusiasm Delta Dental of New Jersey and its employees bring to our organization,” stated Heather Anderson, president and CEO, Special Olympics New Jersey. “Their longtime support through this golf outing, as well as their ongoing dedication to our athletes throughout the year, is remarkable.”
Funds were raised by sponsors, DDNJ’s management team, golfers, and raffles. Brown & Brown Benefit Advisors and the New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA) were lead sponsors.
