The Mount Tabor Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Route 10 near Pelican Shops on a report of a car fire, at 10:07 p.m. Tuesday evening.

According to Earl Kinsey of the Parsippany Police Department, the vehicle was actually in Denville, although the fire was put out my Mount Tabor Fire Department.

Upon arrival, the vehicle was fully engulfed in fire. Engine 615 arrived and pulled two hand lines to suppress the fire using CAFS (compressed air foam system).

Rescue 614 arrived next and crews opened the hood of the car to assist in extinguishing the flames.

Engine 616 then arrived to provide additional water since no hydrants were available due to being snow covered.

Chief 601, 601A, Engine 615, 616, Rescue 614 and Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad responded.

The white 2000 Ford wagon was completely destroyed by the fire, but the driver was able to escape without injury.
